Is the Yamaha Ténéré 700 Really So Special?

Too portly, too big, too gimmicky, too…well, everything. Adventure bikes have gotten out of hand. Yamaha wants to change that by offering something just right - nothing more, nothing less.

3 years? I think its hideous. And yes, I am interested in a used GS.

    2. Ramsgate Rider

Possibly the best review I ever have seen

    3. Randy Bunn

For motorcycle journalism you have the best video making by far.

    4. Tonto Gonzales

DID YO SAY 14GRAND????? for a 700cc motorcycle! you sure Harley Davidson CEO isn't running Yamaha now?

    5. Matt Cero

Did you ever sell your GS sir? I'm in love with my R1200GSA, though I've had to lay it on it's side, controlled, a few times. Freakin' heavy hunk o' metal.

    6. Eka Rally

Yamaha should give away that T7 for you simply because of the review. This review will sold a lot of that Ténéré.

    7. Youmaar Ludwig

the best video presentation in all of DE-news......all media included

    8. mafric750

Another brilliant video and review! Can't thank you enough for the effort you put into these. I'm swapping my 1190 Adv R now... :-)

    9. Carbon Fiber Weiner

I have no interest in adventure bikes but I'm still here because it's F9

    10. Mojo

the seat looks as comfortable as a barb wire enema

    11. guy wolff

One free T7 with every half a million views .Congratulations Ryan .I have enjoyed watching the numbers on this video climb and climb since the hour you published it .. I does go to show the world needs more simple bikes that do a real job at a realistic price and presented with clarity ..

    12. DylanRabbit

What do you think of the Honda Transalp 650 with the rally conversion? I'm thinking of doing that

    13. elrontube09

If it it wasn't so fugly in comparison, and becauses he really likes the motorn & it's rep, I'm gleaning he's ok with KTM 790. But the T7 is so much better looking and the 790 motor, no real rep yet.

    14. Willy's Performance Cycle Center, Since 1969

Excellent review that’s rarely found online. Beautiful scenery too boot. Thanks and ride safe my friend.

    15. mud hustle

Favorite youtube channel, just want to say that I dont really think this bike can do anymore than my dr650 that I have in supermoto form. Plus I get the added street performance and better turn-in. Would love to try it out though. Great bike but I'd have to ride it for my opinion to change. I would have definetly made it up that hill that you were meer inches from climbing although , i think that was a cleverly planned drop at the top. It's all about the rider folks. Buying this bike wont make you any better than any other bike without the shnazzy engine or drivetrain figuration.

    16. Chris Miller

      Best videos

    17. James Excell

I knew I would get a phenomenal review on this bike from an actual Adventure Rider. Amazing stuff!

    18. Fabrice C

As usual very neat and nice video. And if you wanna know what you can do on a T700 (sorry in French):

    19. architectofdarkness

Why would a higher countershaft sharpen the swing arm angle? Makes no sense. What you're demonstrating is the line between the rear axle, and instant center (pivot point for the swing arm). A lower countershaft would create more anti-squat, because the chain tension would create more torque between the rear axle, and swing arm pivot.

    20. Charming nowhere to hide

5:06 -- Watch those rear-indicators dance their way up that hill. 😅

    21. YuriIsMyWaifu

So they made a chain drive bike with shaft jacking?

    22. Moto migos

The Tenere is an awesome bike. Now make a version for 5 foot 7 people

      1. Moto migos

@FortNine The low seat option is news to me. Thank you so much for the information. Lowering links will be a must. A Performance decrease is better than not being able to ride one at all.

      2. FortNine

Yamaha sells a low seat option, and there are suspension-lowering linkages available as well. Of course you're sacrificing some performance there. ~RF9

    23. GunsNGunpla

This is a love letter. And I'm sold.

      1. Charming nowhere to hide

Brilliant production. I’ve got one on order... the perfect “mid-size” ADV bike to replace my “best ADV bike ever”... 950 Super Enduro. Just 10 years before it’s time.

    24. Mech4Life

The production level of these videos are amazing!

    25. CFDoherty

      How much for the GS?

    26. Alberto Rosso

We need a vs with the cb500x africatwin is too big

    27. bigdmia

The production value of this video would rival a Netflix special.

    28. jos macouzet

Great video! beautiful images, such a pleasure to watch. Your videos quality increase exponentially every time =)

    29. Ask to seduce Miss

on my life so we can all see, more accurately and objectively, where I am going wrong? Cheers.

    30. Jimmy Lundberg

I have a Yamaha dealer just a bit down the street, and for one whole year! i have been taking the "other" way throught town for fear of seeing one out in the parking lot available for test riding. I KNOW that if i test ride that thing ...i´ll end up buying one....and i just can´t afford it right now 😔

    31. raymond wandell

Is there any situation that it won't be left behind by tiger or 790?

      1. Ask to seduce Miss

zero interest in an adventure bike but watched all of this just for the video content.

    32. Sheldon Nicholl

I have no interest in ADV bikes whatsoever. This was a good video. I watched right to the end.

    33. ๖ۣۜRนøгi

bro what price if its over 250$ your imagining shit bicuse we know what you did to it

    34. manofrock07

    37. Dalkarl

I don't even ride, but this channel is great! Always looking forward to new videos.

    38. Kyle Bradshaw

Brilliant production. I’ve got one on order... the perfect “mid-size” ADV bike to replace my “best ADV bike ever”... 950 Super Enduro. Just 10 years before it’s time.

      1. Richard Golonka

The 950 super enduro is insane. What a bike. Oooof!

    39. K9ADVCRU

      Waiting patiently in hope.

    40. Jeremy Hise

      Big words dood

    41. Stephen Sullivan

i don't know who scouts locations for your videos but you do a hell of a job showcasing the beauty of your country

    42. Machine Head 68

Hey Ryan you do allot of riding around Kamloops, if you want to ride something really nice come up around Sun Peaks, my back yard for some amazing scenery and back roads riding.

    43. Pork Chop

      Well done

    44. Esat'ın Maceraları

So, since nobody talked about these, didnt Yamaha advertise this? Doesnt it sell?

    45. skunkapunka

Watching FT vids is becoming harder and harder. Is a decision that has to take some consideration. Do i need this kind of commitment right now? do I have the time? attention span? brain power? You already know you have to hit the like button, read a few comments and perhaps leave one yourself praising the quality of the vid. And then think about everything you just learned in a 8 min vid.

    46. Tim Van Leemput

    47. steve lam

zero interest in an adventure bike but watched all of this just for the video content.

    48. benny doutsh

great video mate! well done! you r a bright star in the motorcycle contact creatures and i really enjoy your creativity!

    49. Kosmonooit

      What makes the engine tick?

    50. Douglas Linton

So when are you guys going to make a feature length documentary?

    51. robert o'keefe

How does one even begin to imagine a Goldilocks striptease? 🤣

      1. elrontube09

Think curls, golden ones slightly drapped over her........

    52. Scott Campbell

    53. Scott Campbell

I buy things over another with a TFT and leds!

    54. Sir M

Thank you for this test don't you wanna test the Moto Guzzi V85tt. I really love this bike 'cause my feet can reach the ground compare to the T700. Rally like you're channel even if i'm living quite far from your country

    55. living2 Day

The new Africa Twin blows that away all day long......

    56. Kim Cruz

Thanks for the review Ryan and Aneesh! You guys have to check our the ktm 790 as well I think we are all dying to see how the two bikes compare from a reliable source!!

    57. Alex Gibson

    58. kyndryd spyryt

What about the fact if you crack the subframe its a complete write off because its not a seperate part..

    59. kyndryd spyryt

But is it actually better than the 790 though??...

    60. TommyNitro

Here in the states I think this this has the best bang for the buck in the mid weight market. The ktm 790 msrp starts around $13k compared to the T7’s $10k.

    61. Tyler Gatsby

Please do a video on the new 2020 DR650. I know you got your license riding the Drz400; such great bikes. Your video quality is Netflix worthy

    62. MrBudzini

Why no CB500X review treacle bunny?

    63. aemarques

I don't even ride a motorcycle, but I can't stop seeing your videos. The production value is Hollywood-level. Keep them coming!

    64. goomeister2602

Dang.... gotta loved just how much effort you put into your reviews!

    65. Gregor Babic

What Yamaha did for dual sports with the WR250R; they just did for middle weight adventure bikes with the T7. Bulletproof engine; off-road capability; a bit of a premium in price; and a whole lot of smiles and fun times. I know I will get one at one point. For now as I don’t have the freedom for longer and further rides; the WR is my perfect bike. Ryan, you need to do a video on the WR250R like you did for the KLR650!

    66. Pjåk Pjåk

Please do a comparison with the Tiger 900 Rally Pro!! Fantastic video as usual!

    67. Ready to Ride Rentals

you are just absolutely skilled. Phenomenal high-quality videos

      1. bowen voowy

Ryan could you review the new icon raiden adventure suit and compare to your old one would be very interested.

    68. McKinnon Erario

How would it do on the highway for long periods of time? I'm considering this for my road trip bike! Maybe just change up the sprockets to bring the rpms down at speed?

      1. bowen voowy

seen, none of that sycophantic corporate sponsor magazine tripe, Thank you Ryan

    69. Gil Makover

Could be interesting to compare Yamaha’s approach to anti-squat with 2011s’ Husqvarnas - on the 449/511 bikes with their CTS system. Please make a video on that!

    70. Joseph Elsave

Pls review BMW g 310 gs
