    1. a Little Pal

      Warthog is so American.

    2. Kit Kat

And hardly anyone knows that this aircraft is based on an old German design by the Junkers company. The jet-powered Junkers fighter plane was designed in mid-1941 by the Dessau development department as the successor to the Henschel Hs-129.

Germany will probably buy about 45 units, F/A-18 Super Hornet Planes, despite some news that they wont... Which are capable to transport nuclear (US) bombs that are supplied from german US bases. But what germany needs is not aggressive war machines, it needs defending gear like the Warthog in case of a conventional war. Cos in the moment germany bombs their eastern enemy with nuclear weapons actively, then it will be destroyed completely in 15-30 minutes., while the US will do nothing but wait and negotiate with the aggressor. Therefore, please keep this Warthog plane alive as long as possible. And i say this as a bloody pacifist Kraut ;-)

    6. MrWarwick15

The GAU-8 Avenger is NOT mounted on the centre line of the A10! It is offset to the left of centre! One round is fired at a time which comes from the barrel which is on the centre line of the A10. A small detail but important all the same. Great content otherwise. Thank you. Rich.

      1. MrWarwick15

Sorry, just seen another comment on the same subject! Should have read first! I've had one too many this evening! Rich.

The Plane is an accessory to the gun...

    9. Mike Woike

Why can't we just keep all three I give not one poop about how how much the safety of our troops cost, bring um back alive. Shut down welfare we don't need that it's only give these young girls an excuse to be little pigs an easy way to bring all them unwanted babies because they know they'll be taken care of and heaven forbid there's something wrong with the baby we'll be paying for them from cradle to grave. If dad had to bring them up two things would happen they would have to go to work that means taking advantage of educational opportunity's to better their lives that we will pay for and their family's, but most important the kids will have a dad and not another uncle. Where the hell did that come from

    10. Juli Adcock

Thank you, Col. John Boyd, Chuck Spinney, Pierre Sprey and the rest of Boyd's "Reformers". Long live the A-10

    11. aahnecroth

its not just a plane, its a morale boost with wings

    12. Gonzalo Paredes

      I think it's A-10 Thunderbolt, not lightning

    13. john pinkerton

only the US military could demand a new project thats best in class in multiple categories but also that needs to be cheap, easy to work on, and easy to manufacture

    14. Margarita Vigoya

Magovi 100773 usa the better construct and enginer of world hail usa

    15. Lorde Marsh

IMO CAS aircrafts like the frogfoot and warthog against a modern conventional army would mean suicide for the pilots...for example if it were to attack an armored formation,it would have to go through a maze of medium to long range SAMs, short range MANPADS not to mention the many AA fires....good against terrorist and low budget armies

    16. nathan kindle

As an Army veteran, I can tell you that when I was in Afghanistan, there was nothing more beautiful than the sight of a Hog flying overhead.

    17. Public Public

Surely the chances of it flying are very low if it was engineered by insane people?

    18. Falken Vir

A10 is literally a Flying Gun Platform

    19. Victor Nojin

It all makes to much sense.

    20. Testicle Thief

This plane is good for absolutely raping third world armies like the taliban with fucking bullets but against a strong militarized military power I don’t think is good for if we want to make it good enough to fight strong modernized armies we gotta make another type of the A-10

    21. Luke Coviello

Looks more like a puma to me.

    22. AE 123

U.S army: So we made this Tank General: make it fly

    23. theroflcopternoob

The A-10 is not as survivable as you'd think. I'll let the general in charge of USAF forces (gen Chuck Horner) in desert storm do the talking. "We had a lot of A-10s take a lot of ground fire hits. Quite frankly, we pulled the A-10s back from going up around the Republican Guard and kept them on Iraq’s [less formidable] front-line units" And no, A-10s were not conducting more missions than other aircraft that also fought in the front line.

    24. Linerunner99

xXx: :points at weapons: "I want all that... in here" :points at car: USA: :points at aircraft parts: "I want all that... around this" :points at Avenger:

    25. Taranizs

Designing an aircraft primarily around a completely fixed-position gun that can only be aimed by literally pointing the plane AT whatever you want to shoot, which is generally a ground target that requires low-altitude flying..... Agreed, that's somewhat insane....

    26. William Clark

      Hi nice aircraft video dude

    29. Vilhelmo De Okcidento

Depleted Uranium ammunition must be banned by an international convention. The US has made large portions of Iraq radioactive for hundreds of thousands of years. Iraq has such high levels of birth defects that women are afraid to get pregnant. The problem occurs when DU becomes aerosolized, as when used in munitions. DU can enter the body via inhalation, where it wrecks havoc.

    30. Rasmus

I love that such a beautiful plane with the greatest noise of all time is viewed by soldiers as a sort of guardian angel and morale booster

    31. ChrisGeez

The combination of low-cost off-the-shelf parts and highly specialized mission objective development specs for the A-10 Warthog is exactly the opposite of those for the ridiculously expensive and supposedly all-purpose-but-woefully suboptimal mission specific design of the F-35. (Facepalm!)

    32. Max Wylde

      Thank you, Pierre Sprey.

    33. B-Thrash

When I was in the USAF we always considered the A10 superior to all others in close combat support, as it was a flying tank, go USA & have a happy 4th!!!

    34. Carlos Caraballo

Jesus. Only in America will the government design a radioactive bullet gatling gun and put a plane on it.

    35. 130shooter1

Non infantry will never know the comfort that us grunts felt when we look up and see the devils cross flying above us.

    36. Donald Martin

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....any grunt or mechanized soldier will tell you that the A-10 is the most beautiful bird in the air.....

Thank you for this interesting exposition. As a child during the cold war, I spent many hours watching countless British Lightnings, and Vulcans and US A10s training in the sky above my house in the UK. I spent many hours enthralled, watching the Warthogs 'cartwheeling' around nearby buildings which they were using as training targets on the rural outskirts of my town. Interesting about the Kn of recoil (let's ignore the turning forces)- a typical masonry house in my country will impose approx 40-50 Kn into the ground ie that gun has a similar force as the weight of a typical masonry 2-storey house. Interesting about the original design ethos which has proven correct over many years. Better design trumps greater sophistication. I would have loved to see more engineering detail about this fabulous bird. Thank you. I have subscribed to your channel

    42. 8Jory

This plane is one of those things that's so ugly, it's beautiful.

    43. john wyborn

Depleted uranium is a most despicable war crime. Any country that employs such imoral tactics, has set itself up for certain humiliating defeat as God will see to it! Even if its the self righteous usa

    44. Fredrik Astlid

Why Insane that is such a false statement.

    45. Christoph Horstmann so, I did not know that the A-10 is capable of flying remotely.

    50. Mark Thorsby

Thank you for the video, fascinating. If I know American military contracts; why choose between the a10 and f35? Let’s have both.

    51. GetRekt lol

      Haha plane go BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

    52. rtrThanos Ezekyle Abaddon

I’ve always been a fan of military aircraft so I knew what I was looking at the first time I saw it for real. But nothing can prepare for your first real-life encounter. I was in boot camp at Fort Lost-In-The-Woods, Missouri, working on my shot grouping at the rifle range. And I hear what sounds like a chainsaw coming from my left. I didn’t see anything obvious at first, but then I saw some flares in the sky and that’s when I saw the Warthogs. I’d see them dive down, a long puff of smoke come out of their nose and trail behind them, then a few seconds later I heard what sounded like a really mean chainsaw before they pulled up and popped flares while banking. I was amazed at the sheer volume of fire they were laying down, yet I heard nothing for a good 5 seconds later. Being raised in the Midwest that has many insane thunderstorms I knew that each second between seeing the lightening and hearing it is about 1 mile, so those Hawgs were a good 5 miles away and still loud as hell. I’d rather piss glass than be on the receiving end of an A10 cannon. I’m sorry but no F35 or F-anything can match that firepower, intimidation, or time on station, which is why the A10 will have a long service life like the B52. It’s simple, it’s cheap, it’s effective, and it doesn’t need a $400,000 helmet to operate.

      Trump is a draft dodger

    54. Rule Ten

The original engineers consulted with the world's greatest pilot, Hans Ulhrich Rudel.

    55. G Lopez

Some one at the pentagon ordered specs for a tank that could fly so Fairchild came up with this Mo Fo

    56. will edwards

It costs $200,000 to fire that gun for 12 seconds (70 rounds per second at a cost of $238/ round), yet grandma is only getting a 1.6% cost of living adjustment in her social security this 2020 year. With the exploding costs of meat she will no doubt have to go back to eating cat food again. To add insult to injury the military will be disposing of 35 million ($8,330,000,000 cost) of these rounds due to the depleted uranium heath risks from these 30 mm rounds. And we just wrecked our entire economy and gave the Banksters/ Wall Street/ Big Corporations 8 trillion dollars in stimulus money because we wanted to keep grandma safe? Cut me a freaking break!@#

      1. G Lopez

Will Edwards is the proper way to initiate this comrade use spell check it is must favored by all external BOTS

    57. JC cohen

Is it me, or does it sound like a fart when the gatling is firing?

      1. G Lopez

Yes but you get to hear it after the ammo has hit the target So the bad guys are on their way see the virgins when the sound gets there.

    58. Randomguy

I remember the old AFN commercial back in the late 70's, Announcer: A-10 Thunderbolt II's, were glad there on our side!, then you would see an A-10 strafe a Soviet era tank and hear that famous brrrrrrrrrrt.

    59. Perry Champ

If Chuck Norris were an airplane this would be the one.

    60. doge_ fish

A-10 at the beginning sounds like a fart

    61. Dezzer89

Designer: "hey guys, we got this amasing gun that we have put on this killer plane!" General: "what does it shoot?" Designer: "we have invented these huge shells that can kill anything.. but it means that every shell contains nuclear waste" General: "well.. we got alot of nuclear waste.. lets do it, we can worry about the nuclear waste after we have pushed back the Soviets!" Designer: "god idea sir!" *2003* Politician: "we need to free the people of Iraq from their dictator, and then fight the terrorists in Afghanistan.. lets use the Warthogs, the ammunition is cheap" *2020* Documentary: "..the largest part of the gun is the ammo drum, which typically contains 1150 rounds.." my mind: "each of those rounds contain radioactive waste, 1150 for each plane.. how many Warthogs are in the middle east.. how many missions have they flown, using their main armament?.. i wonder how many bullets have been fired on Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and the rest of the world.. the US is actively encouraging a fallout scenario in the rest of the world.. oh god its worse! they build a plane, firing radioactive bullets into other nations.. be course its cheaper than actually bothering about their own nuclear waste!!"

    62. Marc Williams

Scrap the 35, group the 10's and 16's for battlefield dominance. Pepper in super18's, 15's, a surveillance bird and the sat net for air superiority. If aliens show up, they can get these hands too cuz Space Force is active also.

    63. EffingSix

The A-10 resembles the gloster meteor.

    64. A. Paul

The universe is teeming with life but they hide cause we're the "Hulk smash" species.

    65. Ballsy Ballsyone

Love the ARRRRRs and the Buuuuts! HAHAHAHA

    66. BandanaDrummer95

I remember a soldier once being asked which weapons system was his favorite. His answer was the Air Force. Probably because of this

The A-10's design had input from a German WWII Stuka pilot. Hans Ulrich Rudel, the most decorated pilot of any nation. He knocked out over 500 Soviet tanks. He flew the first tank destroyer Stukas with cannons. This could be why in part the A-10 is so successful in that Rudel understood what it took to kill a tank and have an aircraft live in a hostile low attack arena of the front line. His Stuka said: bumpbumpbumpbumpbumpbump

    68. Lex_Ka

it sounds like its ripping a massive fart when it fires
